Our Teachers

Mia Hatgis

Mia is a NY State Licensed Acupuncturist and Chinese herbalist. She specializes in Women’s Health, with a particular interest in pregnancy, postpartum and pediatrics. She trained as a doula, through DONA, in 2003, and uses a unique combination of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Dreambirth™ imagery, dietary and essential oil therapies in her work. Her passion is working with pregnant women to empower their pregnancies, prepare them for an easier labor and help them transition into postpartum life.

Ruth Lawyer

Ruth comes from the mountains of Colorado and was drawn to New York to study and work in theatre. Eventually, the transformative experience of having children began to dominate her creative and working life. Reframing her love for art and communication and babies into the compassionate work of a doula was a logical progression. The addition of “imagery” as a childbirth preparation modality is another means of integrating art and science. She has a serious yoga practice and is happy to bring her skill and understanding of the mind/body connection to the fore.

Claudia Rosenhouse Raiken

Claudia is a Childbirth Educator (ICEA), a Doula (ALACE) , an Alexander Technique Teacher and a Biodynamic CranioSacral Practitioner. She holds as well a Masters from NYU in Kinesiology and Dance, and is a certified DreamBirth® Practitioner from The School of Images. She has assisted in over 200 births (as of 2011) and continues to be awed at the power of DreamBirth® . She has seen a great difference in positive outcomes since incorporating DreamBirth® both in her work as a doula and as an educator.
